The homeless of Queensland, including but not limited to
Brisbane; needy families all over Queensland, domestic violence shelters;
refugees, intensive care units for premature/ill babies, oncology wards of
various hospitals, aboriginal outlying communities, nursing homes, animal
refuges etc.
Every organisation that we give donations to, is normally not
very well known, operated mainly by volunteers with no government funding, such
as Student Care Welfare, Brisbane Youth Services, QuIHN (Qld Injectors Health Network), Mama's Rene's "soup" vans, Mater Mothers Hospital, Caboolture
Hospital, Drug Arm (Ipswich), various Domestic violence shelters,
Sippy Downs Animal Refuge, Innisfail Animal Refuge, Dakabin RSPCA, numerous nursing
homes and many more organisations with others contacting us asking for our
assistance.
Before we give over any donations we get a promise that each
and every item will be given DIRECTLY to someone in need, not sold in shops,
markets etc!
We have also participated in 5 Homeless Connect Days,
organised by Brisbane City council, in which we give out beanies, blankets,
scarves, gloves, toys etc to the homeless directly! There is another coming up
later in May, and we hope to beat the record that we set last year of giving
away 1200 donations !! That is a very emotional day.
Have also attended Festival of Hope organised by Citycare just
prior to Christmas, which is for needy families. We gave away many
knitted/crocheted/sewn items mainly clothing, but lots of toys, toiletry bags,
and some new jewellery items that had been donated by a couple of
members.
